Content

With practical advice and steps on how to incorporate key learnings into the workplace, during this workshop you will:

Be introduced to Te Reo Māori and explore ways to normalise the language in your business - beginning with the basics of pronunciation and common words so that you can build confidence first and foremost. You will also learn a simple mihi (introduction) that you can use any occasion.

Make sense of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi by looking at what lead to the signing of The Treaty and some of the historical things that took place following the signing. Discuss the principles of The Treaty and how you can start to imbed them in your business.

Learn the values, customs and protocols that underpin tikanga Māori and Māori culture and understand core principles such as manaakitanga, kaitiakitanga, whanaungatanga, aroha and tino rangatiratanga.

Facilitated by

Owner of bilingual restaurant FUSH, Anton Matthews, is all about normalising te reo for all Kiwis. Anton has a degree in in Te Reo Maori and Maori Indigenous Studies, and a Graduate Diploma in Teaching at the University of Canterbury Te Whare Wananga o Waitaha. A graduate from top Maori language academy Te Panekiretanga o Te Reo Maori, Anton is a natural teacher and presenter, never more comfortable than sharing his passion for te reo – Anton facilitates open and respectful conversations and provides practical advice and steps on how to incorporate key learnings into the workplace.
