Programme Outline  

Module 1: Focusing on the Leadership Role  

  • Explore the differences between management and leadership 
  • Know the 4 stages of team performance and your role at each stage 
  • Balance the need for task, team and individual focus 

Module 2: Engaging Teams and Individuals  

  • Build competence and commitment in team members 
  • Understand the levels of team leadership 
  • Identify your current strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats 

Module 3: Communication and Conflict Resolution   

  • Understand how words, tone, and intention shape relationships. 
  • Explore the five Thomas–Kilmann conflict styles and discover your natural approach. 
  • Learn practical tools for handling disagreement with composure and empathy. 

Module 4: Coaching Performance  

  • Recognise what can affect motivation and performance in the workplace 
  • Learn how to use the GROW model to coach others 
  • How to provide clear feedback 

 

Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this programme, you will be able to: 

  • Distinguish between leadership and management responsibilities. 
  • Identify the differences between leadership and management styles. 
  • Recognize the 4 stages of team performance and the leader’s role at each stage. 
  • Apply the balance of task, team, and individual focus in their leadership practice. 
  • Recognise how to build both competence and commitment in team members. 
  • Apply different levels of team leadership to real workplace situations. 
  • Analyse your own leadership practice through a personal SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats). 
  • Recognise key elements of effective communication that influence workplace relationships. 
  • Understand how communication styles interact with conflict styles (using the Thomas–Kilmann model). 
  • Apply practical tools for managing conflict constructively and maintaining trust under pressure. 
  • Recognise key factors that affect motivation and performance in the workplace. 
  • Apply the GROW coaching model to support and develop your team. 
  • Provide clear, constructive, and actionable feedback.
