Content

These Workshops will provide you with the background information you need on key sustainability topics. Over the six part series, Jonathan Pooch (DETA) will help you develop your own Sustainability Roadmap for your business as well as increase your sustainability literacy and knowledge.

Each Workshop will focus on a key pillar of sustainability.  Together we will assess and discuss how relevant this is to your business, ‘what good looks like’ and what we need to do to take steps towards where you want to get to.

The focus of the Workshops will be on practical, implementable change anchored to best practice sustainability.

Key focus areas for the sessions will include:

1. Sustainability Strategy – Learn the importance of setting a strong foundation by identifying what matters most and clearly articulating your ‘why.’

2. People – Discover how leadership, team development, and fostering a culture of inclusion are vital to sustainable business success.

3. Resources – Address critical areas like energy, transport, water, and waste, with practical solutions applicable to Canterbury's context.

4. Nature and Supply Chain – Explore strategies for building sustainable supply chains and incorporating nature-based solutions for carbon management.

5. Reporting and Communication – Engage with stakeholders and connect with your local community through transparent communication.

6. Plan Implementation – Turn knowledge into action with a step-by-step approach to embedding sustainability into your business operations.

7. (Optional add-on) Complimentary one-hour 1:1 consulting with the facilitator to answer questions regard implementing your action plan. This session must be redeemed by 30/06/2025 and is available after completing the workshop.

Testimonial

"I attended this course to help me better understand how my SME clients can overcome the feeling that this is too big a subject, and to put structure around their sustainability planning. Jono is an excellent facilitator and brought all the subject matter to life with his considerable experience in this field. Some of the many helpful takeaways he offered included: recognising but not being put off by the diversity of the term sustainability, starting where you are and discovering what sustainability means for your business, celebrating what you're already doing (and what you do next), and prioritising initiatives for effort vs impact. This course was also a great way to connect with other Business Canterbury members beyond the brief chats at networking events and to share ideas. It has given me a framework to encourage my clients to recognise the growing importance of communicating the great things they're already doing as well as putting plans in place for their next steps. I highly recommend this course, excellent value for money." Charlotte Sullivan - Auburn 2023
