Who can qualify for the subsidy

To access the subsidy for registered training, a business customer must meet the following criteria. They must:

• have undergone a discovery session with a Regional Business Partner growth advisor
• have fewer than 50 full-time equivalent employees
• be registered for GST in New Zealand (this applies to one-to-one training only)
• have a New Zealand Business Number (NZBN)
• be operating in a commercial environment; and
• be a privately owned business, or a Māori Trust or incorporation under Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 or similar organisation managing Māori assets under multiple ownership.

To undertake the Diploma, you must be able to verify that you are currently in a senior OH&S management role and have the full support of your company, including access to their systems and data. This programme is suitable for those with a minimum qualification of the National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (Coordination) Level 4 or have equivalent experience.

Entry to this programme is subject to your application being approved. Please complete the registration form with details on your qualifications, knowledge and related experience to date - you will then receive confirmation of your approval to complete the registration.

• The management, system review and evaluation of Health & Safety policy and performance
• Practical Health and Safety procedures and implementation for contractor management, return-to-work programmes, emergency actions and more
• Effective Health and Safety communication strategies and techniques
• Risk assessment and management, including ergonomics and human factors; accident investigation, recording and reporting.

• Lead, review and influence an organisation’s effective Health and Safety communication, consultation and engagement strategies and training programmes at all levels
• Foster a positive, resilient Health and Safety leadership and culture
• Use proven principles to identify, analyse, prioritise and articulate Health and Safety risks as part of an organisation’s overall risk profile, and recommend cost effective mitigation
• Analyse and report on Health and Safety-related data to help strategic planning and measure performance.
